Planning in brief

A successful marketing plan needs at least three levels:

  • Level 3: every possible customer you can think of.
  • Level 2: groups/communities with a genuine interest.
  • Level 1: people who will definitely buy and existing customers.

The pyramid above neatly illustrates the point. Keep this image in mind because to build your plan, you need to answer the following questions for each level:

  1. Who are your customers?
  2. What do they want from you?
  3. Where can you find them?
  4. When would they buy from you?
  5. Why would they buy from you and not someone else?
  6. How do they want to buy, practically?
